Siberian Ruderalis Preservation Project 2019

Strain Hunting through Bashkortostan

Bashkortostan, Russia

XXL Super -Autoflower

Lat: 55.1 Lon: 59.9

Wild/Feral

All seeds have been collected by pheno hunters directly from feral plants growing naturally under the full sun in native soil with no human input or care. Gathered from remote locations, inaccessible to general public, hidden villages and wild estuaries. Hard to get and riddled with great risk our team went to great lengths to return these to USA. Rare and exotic genetics reached by trekking through endless hills and valley for the solo pursue of preservation. Pure, unadulterated and free from human interference.

Location: Lake Chebarkul, Southern Siberian, Bashkortostan Russia 🇷🇺

Type: Super-Autoflower XXL Ruderalis

Soil: Soil was mostly poor and rocky, located south east of the Ural Mountains. The Ural Mountains form the continental boundary between Europe and Asia, Chelyabinsk itself is therefore also known as "The Gateway to Siberia.” These were gathered at 54’ N 60’ L . The leaves were thin and heavily serrated. The Buds were resinous and very oily. It flowers in July at 54 degrees North latitude. This early flowing characteristic has proven to be dominant, and it is an excellent strain for hydration in the hands of a skilled breeder especially for northern outdoor climates, above 52N.  One of the hardest strains to grow well indoors, but one of the hardiest for growing outdoors. Resistant to cold/frost, powdery mildew, and high wind. Caution this is an extremely light feeder, and does not require fertilized soil. Prefers organic soil.

-Noteworthy - will ripen mid to end of August. Crossing this variety with a later flowing variety will predictably cause the resulting hybrid to flower earlier. Allowing one to have three cycles in one year, making F’3 possible to breed within as short a time as 1 year. These are very light feeders and don’t need much nutrients and they prefer drier conditions. Height - 6-8ft.

Seed Characteristics

Siberian Ruderalis genetics are an opportunity to work with feral building blocks of the cannabis genome as a wild cultivar that has been left to it's own devices in an unforgiving natural steppe habitat dating back to Scythian and Yamnaya culture throughout history, likely adopted from nearby trading or natural escaped adaptations over time. From my experience these can be compared in flowering characteristics to other feral or rudimentary cannabis that appear in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan wild type varieties that have the ability to have day neutral or non-photo dependant flowering expressions.

Distinguishing markers that classify these as feral compared to domesticated stock are that being much smaller, and having camouflaged perianths with irregular marbling mosaics throughout. These traits have let this cultivar develop a defense mechanism that allowed it strive in the most rugged of climates, with most seeds being frozen until the following season, naturally creating a resistance to cold temperatures over many seasons of exposure.Do note that due to these defenses , this cultivar tends to shed it's seed when fully developed to further is genetic cycle while most domestic varieties will hold it's seed internally until degradation of the flower itself allows to disperse itself freely.

History and Culture : Ancient Vedic Civilization

Archaeologists have discovered ruins of the ancient town of Arkaim, situated in the vicinity of the city of Chelyabinsk. This clearly indicates the presence of an advanced civilization of Indo-Vedic origin, which was at least 4,000 years old in Arkaim. The site is known by the Russian archaeologists for at least 70 years as Sintashta-Petrovka cultural area of ancient Aryans, but it was often ignored in the Anglo-American historical scholarship. Sintashta-Petrovka cultural area runs along the eastern Urals of the Eurasian steppe for about 400 km south of Chelyabinsk and to the east for about 200 km. There are 23 sites recognized as belonging to this group. The Sintashta burials, and those found at other Arkaim sites, vary greatly in detail. These burials provide archaeological evidence of the burial rituals set down in the Rig Veda and Avesta and, thus, these are called Indo-Iranian. The sites have been called “towns” and, most of them have been discovered through aerial photography; they are laid out in round, square, or oval shapes. While only two of these “towns,” Arkaim and Sintashta, have been excavated largely, they are characterized as being fortified, having connecting houses, and having extensive evidence for metallurgy. The people of the Sintashta culture are thought to have spoken Proto-Indo-Iranian, the ancestor of the Indo-Iranian language family. This identification is based primarily on similarities between sections of the Rig Veda, an Indian religious text which includes ancient Indo-Iranian hymns recorded in Vedic Sanskrit, with the funerary rituals of the Sintashta culture as revealed by archaeology.

Scholars have identified the structure of Arkaim as the cities built "reproducing the model of the universe" described in ancient Aryan/Iranian spiritual literature, the Vedas and the Avesta. (What are the Vedas? “the most ancient Hindu scriptures, written in early Sanskrit and containing hymns, philosophy, and guidance on ritual for the priests of Vedic religion. Believed to have been directly revealed to seers among the early Aryans in India, and preserved by oral tradition, the four chief collections are the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda, and Atharva Veda.”) The structure consists of three concentric rings of walls and three radial streets, reflecting the city of King Yima described in the Rigveda. The foundation walls and the dwellings of the second ring are built according to swastika-like patterns; the same symbol is found on various artefacts. Arkaim is designated as a "national and spiritual shrine" of Russia and has become a holy site for Rodnover, Zoroastrian and other religious movements.

Ancient Vedic Civilization

Before there was The Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia 🇷🇺 before Persia, and even before India 🇮🇳 existed... there was the proto-Indo-Iranians before their split into different groups and migration to Central Asia and from there to Persia and India and other parts of Eurasia.

Modern Russian History

Numerous rivers originate in the southern Ural Mountains. Chelyabinsk Oblast is also home to more than 3,748 lakes, including Lake Turgoyak. Isle of Faith, near its Western shore is primarily notable for their 6000 BC year old megalithic structures. Scientists still can’t accurately explain exactly who built these mysterious structures.

Siberia is a cross road for migration of our ancient ancestors and there is a lot of ongoing research to investigate the many archeological sites found. For instance there is a stunning discovery by a team at Novosibirsk Institute of Archeology and Ethnography that has found oldest stone bracelet in the world. The bracelet was found in 2008 in so-called Stratum 11 of world famous Denisova cave in the Altai region of Siberia. Believed to have been made not by ancient Homo sapiens but the extinct Denisovan species of early humans. Adding another missing link to our vast history.
