The Beldia from Beni Ahmed is a pure, heirloom Sativa landrace, meticulously adapted to the harsh, arid conditions of this lesser-known Moroccan region. Located in the Chichaoua Province, southwest of Marrakech, Beni Ahmed is a semi-arid expanse where traditional Berber farmers have cultivated cannabis for over a millennium. The region’s unique microclimate—characterized by intense sunlight, minimal rainfall, and nutrient-poor soils—has shaped a strain that is remarkably resilient, low-maintenance, and distinct from its Rif Mountain cousins. While the Rif is renowned for its hashish production, Beni Ahmed’s Beldia is prized for its delicate flowers, historically smoked as “kif” in long wooden pipes by local elders, and its subtle, aromatic hash.
